REGGAE BIZNEZ COMING SUMMER 2013
PRODUCED BY MONSTA MUZIK AND BASS HEAVY PRODUCTIONS
Welcome to the Rebelution...
Rebel Biznez Muzsic was formed in January 2003 in Uptown New Orleans. RBM was founded by long time friends Shaka Garel and Ross Baudy. The two pledged their commitment to propel the upstart label to solid success. With little capital but tremendous determination they immediately got in the studio with three local producers and hit the ground running. Within a year they were independently releasing their first label project, Shaka’s Debut EP “Babylon System”. They began establishing a camp of artist; Ras Wayne, Saga, JonSirius, Ville, and Caveman. They went back to the studio to complete Shaka’s full length release “Rebel Biznez”, aptly titled to tell the world who they were. Progress slowed due to lack of resources, legal woes being fought by several staff members and daily life on the streets of uptown New Orleans. By mid 2004 they were back on track and set to release Shaka’s “Rebel Biznez” album until the untimely incarceration of the label CEO. By August 2005, Hurricane Katrina arrived and destroyed the city and everything RBM built until that point. With label staff scattered about the country, family and career in chaos and the label CEO still incarcerated for another six months, Shaka maintained whatever he could. Back at the forefront with astounding resilience, they have incorporated a staff of business professionals and artist that is unlike any independent label on its level. “We’re here not only to create music but create a culture, a way of life. Reality Rap, Reality R&B, Reality Rock, whatever we can produce. Create opportunity in this world for aspiring professionals in our community”, says label CEO Ross Baudy. RBM released “Stick’em Up Volume I online, the first of a series of mixtapes the camp is working on. The “Rebel Biznez” album was temporarily shelved to address the state of New Orleans, Pre and Post Katrina, in the upcoming release of “Spotlight on my City”. In the single “N.O. Place Like Home” Shaka displays an electrifying story line told from the eyes of a Hurricane Katrina evacuee. Ras Wayne delivers a stellar melody on the hook leaving you feeling eerily connected to the struggle of the people of New Orleans. Rebel Biznez Muzsic, remember the name because the game will never be the same…
